Send Mail Without SMTP Server
Recently e-mail service based on POP and SMTP server much harder to get freely, but actually the case is that service truly efficient to use read and write e-mail by offline, but this service is not lot. Yahoo! at the past gave free SMTP access, but now they charge for it, consumer is only allowed to use free service at web.
Even though you have free SMTP access from office or ISP, when you’re not in office you just can use the POP server to receive e-mail. SMTP server that is used to send e-mail is not provided. If the situation be like this, usually you force to use web base mail to send or reply mail.
Actually, if you do not have access to use SMTP, you can create your own SMTP. The trick is so simple, just install Local SMTP Relay Server in your computer, make it as your SMTP server for your e-mail client. If you still don’t have it, please download at GetFreeFile.
Let say you use Microsoft Outlook 2007 as e-mail client application, and if you use another e-mail client application, you can configure it with your application menu.
- Run Local SMTP Relay server program by click [Start] > [All Programs] > [Local SMTP Relay Server].
- Specify SMTP port that you will be used. To use standard port [port 25], choose [Standard SMTP Port]. If you want to use different port, choose option [Use Specific Port] and fill in port that you wish for. To use this configuration, you need to click [Apply] button.
- Click [Start] > [All Programs] > [Microsoft Office] > [Microsoft Office Outlook 2007].
- Click [Tools] > [Account Settings …] > at Microsoft Outlook program.
- Choose your specified SMTP account that would you change, then click [Change …].
- At Outgoing mail server part [SMTP], fill in “localhost†or “127.0.01â€.
- Now, click [More Settings…] button then entering [Advanced] tab.
- Look at Server port Numbers at Outgoing server [SMTP], make sure that you used the same port that have been configured before at Local SMTP Relay Server Program.
- Change Server Timeouts, 1 minute before to be 10 minutes.
- Click [OK], then [Next].
- If you have another e-mail account, repeat step 5 till 10. To close the Change E-mail Account wizard, click [Finish] button.
