Change your move to Linux is not easy work indeed, but learn to understand this OS and this complicated procedure will improve your sense of intellectualism. Aside from this, our knowledge about this open source world, which the community is full with IT master from all over the world, surely increase as well. In this community, we can discuss any kind of problems we have met and looking for the solution together to solve this problem. Are you interested to join the community and shift move to Linux? For newbie, I offer several formulas that I used to call “3S”.
- Start to install your computer with dual boot operating system (Windows and Linux), thus we can still make comparison about this two OS, find their similarity), compare the job that done by Windows and Linux. Of course this dual boot is not only in virtual, but in parting method (full installation in hard disk drive with particular partition).
- Start to find and choose tools substitution for Linux, which have same function as Windows has. There are so many applications available, do not be wrong to pick the right ones. To play on video or audio, I recommend you to use Amarox, XMMS, VLC, and totem. People who work as administration officer will need OpenOffice. If you are tinker with something like computer operating system, Linux offers sysvinit and sum. Maybe you are an IT practitioner that often to make an application, the package from SUN JAVA, C++, Pascal, FORTRAN, AMP (Apache, MySQL, PHP) could be tried.
- Start to accustom yourself with Linux method, this will be hard stage for you, if you do not have open source enthusiasm. Otherwise, you will be easily to understand LINUX. What is this caused by? Because in Linux community, we can share knowledge, experiences, problems with others. Therefore, you have to visit open source forums diligently to improve your skills.
