We will discuss about pagerank phenomenon, why most of domain remain in its pagerank, not move to better pagerank level, in fact there are some blogs jump down. This actually influences by certain things, those are:

  1. Low PR blogs do link exchange with high PR blogs can cause the lowest PR blogs up to higher PR. With note, link exchange done with higher PR blogs. May be this chart below will give you more idea.
  2. Backlink

Chart above means to get PR 2, and then you have to collect 101 backlinks from PR 1 domain or 18 backlinks from PR 2 domain or 3 backlinks from PR 3 domain and so on according to the chart.

  3. Aware to your inbound and outbound links, inbound links is another domain, which link to your domain. While outbound links is, link from our blog to another blog. You have to keep outbound links less than inbound links. When outbond links more than inbound links, then it causing a certain blog will remain in its PR, or even get lower PR. When your inbound links more then outbond links, then you just have to wait your PR move up to the higher level.
  4. Leave a comment on other blogs will get backlink, you can check your backlink using backlink watch, you can see how many backlinks you get and which blogs are set their link using no follow attribute.

Those three factors above are factors that can uplift our PR to higher level. Now we will se factors that can cause blogs PR remain on its PR, those are:

  1. Not yet qualify to above chart requirements.

Bounce Rate: The Way to Analyze and Repair It

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Getting user/visitors that is committed with site/blog content will produces sells, subscriptions, bookmarks and continuously visits. The best way to increase bound user is by designing site/blog structure that has content related link and shows them up in such enticing so they entice to click it. The logic is, if the first article does not produce subscription, it is probably the second will.

Webmaster used to call it with bounce rate, it is the percentages of visitors that leave site/blog after look at the entry page (the first page been visited). They are visitors who bounce away and does not look at the other pages on the site/blog. You might be using Google Analytics for this purpose.

Low bounce rate means that your visitors explores your site/blog more detail. It means they are more content related. In his new article, Jacob Nielsen said that bounce rate remains an important metric.

“Given growing bounce rates, we must stop using «unique visitors» as a metric for site success. Site tourists who leave a site immediately ratchet up the unique visitors count, but do not contribute long-term value. On the contrary, bouncers should be considered a negative statistic: the site failed to engage them enough to entice even a second pageview.”

Nielsen suggests analyzing bounce rate partly for each different visitors sources: low-value referrers, direct links from other sites, search engine traffic, and loyal users. The reason is so simple: visitors come to your site/blog with different purposes, it depends on their needs. The source who sent visitors could be the indicator of behavior, and it could be observe.

One constant user could come to site/blog through feed reader and go away after read latest article/post because he/she always monitor that site/blog and have almost read entire articles/archives on certain site/blog. One visitor that need particular knowledge/information will come by through search engine and will easily entice to clicks site/blog links. Casual visitor could come on site/blog through social sites exploration like StumbleUpon.

Noteworthy, bounce rate will be more varied depends on the source, thus it must bee compared with similar data, not to different sources. For example is, visitor performance who comes from search engine referrals must be compared with the earlier data with the same source, not to compared with other sources, like Digg.

This post will be continued to the next post, so you have to follow this blog for reading the rest of this post.

Five Tips to Increase Your Blog Traffic

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Most webmaster/blogger definitely want their site/blog has many visitors, SEO Moa creates 21 tips for increasing traffic. This could be your starting point who wants to increase their site/blog traffic, or trying to apply SEO basic concept (Search Engine Optimization). Here is concise of those tips:

Creates title with two targeted visitors

First and the most important thing is creates title for people who visit your blog through search engine or for your feed subscriber. Try to make it short, on-topic, and eye-catching. Secondly, think about search engine when you want to give title, search engine will be helpful to give you traffic. The best way is to write article and title first, then search through Overture to find out suitable and orderly phrase.

Covering properly topic

Each thing always has topic and frequently ask question. This behaves on all kind of site, but easily done on blog. For example, if everyone always asks about nice broker characteristics on a certain forum, give them your answers. In other case, when lot of people ask about what kind of stock that has good chance to success after terrorism attack on online stock trading, you can give them your answers. Do your researches, make documentation, and compose it.

Use smart URL

The best URL structure is the succinct URL, thus people could guess its contain. I do not like URL with 10 hyphens in the long title, which is made automatically by most CMS, but this is better than using dynamic parameter in URL. May be you do not take it seriously, but you have to know that by rewrite ‘?id=530’ becomes ‘/450’ will produces better result and easy to remember.

High traffic days harness

If you get much visitor, do not know how it goes, may be comes from popular blogs/sites that linked to your blog, use this chance. Make two or three high quality posts in that time that shows your skill as writer and tell them your sophisticate. Make your visitor aware that ‘this is the content they should be sticking around to see more’. If you do not do this within 48 hours after you got visitor bump, you have to forget this and start again from the beginning.

Build an image

One important thing from blogging world is brand building. To have outstanding name, then you have to build an image where people have intention to join, an image where people can get added value. Exclusivity is not good choice, visitors will feel inconvenience and knock out, but this is important for your old loyal visitors. Keep your old visitors might be much more significant then to attract new visitors. Be careful with an image, when people like it, then it will be difficult to be changed. It is need more effort to change an image then to create this from zero point. If you make one new blog, or your blog has low traffic, may be you need to write down your blog objective with your brand image to help you make a post.
